Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian proposes to set up a Medical College

The Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Assembly has proposed the setting up of a medical college. Administrative Secretary of the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Assembly, Shillong Rev J. F. Jyrwa said that they have approached the State government to facilitate funding from the Central government for building infrastructures. Rev Jyrwa pointed out that there is a need for setting up such a medical college because of the hardships faced by many bright and deserving students in getting admission in various medical colleges. 

According to Rev. Jyrwa, the proposed medical college will be located in Jaiaw, Shillong on the campus of the Dr. H. Gordon Roberts Hospital. This hospital will be the teaching hospital of the proposed medical college.  Rev. Jyrwa also added that the MBBS degree will be awarded by Martin Luther Christian University. Martin Luther Christian University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Glenn Kharkongor informed that the Medical College will be set up through public private partnership.
