‘Geography of Crime: Assam’ Released
The occasion was presided over by Dr. K. K. Jhunjhunwala, (Editor – in – Chief of Eastern Panorama) as an appointed speaker, Mr. R. Chandranathan, (IPS), Gopalkrishnan of Rishikesh, Uttaraanchal) were the Guests of Honour.
The book ‘Geography of Crime: Assam’ is an attempt which will provide adequate base in understanding the phenomena of crime for pre – agitation, agitation and post – agitation periods in Assam. It also highlights how the changing socio – political relation of an area has an impact on increase or decrease of crime in a state. This book identifies each category of crime in relation to the changes of time, socio – economics and political relation of the state.
This book is equipped with twenty – six years of original crime data and also contains a number of valuable appendixes. This book further contains valuable crime maps both of district and thana within the state which serve as a base to identify crime patterns in the state. Effort has been made to suggest spatial scenario to minimize crime within the state.
The book ‘Geography of Crime: Assam’ is directed towards the study of topology of crime in space – time parameters. In a sense, this well documented book is intended towards an interpretation of the problem of crime and it will directly help formulate the crime reduction policies which may go a long way in reducing the occurrence of crime in a state. It is an informative read for decision – making and contains the data analysis of Brahmaputra Valley only.
