BPF Secures Second Term in Bodoland Territorial Council

 

When one talks of Central funding in the Northeastern region of India, one immediately thinks of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in Assam. The BTC area has been a shining example of rapid development in recent years and this has prompted the Government of India to shower it with immense sums of money as it has seen that something is actually being accomplished in the area. In a region where Central funds usually lie stagnant and unused only to be returned to sender, the BTC area sticks out like a sore thumb, however, all for the right reasons. Considering the amount of funds available for use and the nod of approval from all sides, it is understandable that elections in this area would be strongly contested in and everybody would be trying to elbow their way into the helm of affairs.
