Located in the easternmost tip of Arunachal Pradesh – Tirap district had always been in the news for all the wrong reasons – mainly due to the presence of various militant outfits including both the factions of the NSCN.

Apart from news related to the activities of underground outfits, a very positive step towards bridging the gap with the so-called ‘outer world’ and the district which has a geographical area of more than 2200 square kms is being taken up by the Tirap district administration, which promises to turn the lives of the villagers around in terms of e-governance.

“Tirap is a declared ‘Disturbed Area’ where the Armed Forces Special Power Act is in operation. The law and order situation in the interior villages of the district many a times gets disturbed due to the presence of several UGs (Underground) terrorist organisations in the district, therefore, it was very important to make significant changes to improve the communication network throughout the district,” a senior official of the Tirap district administration said.
