The plight of Dhubri’s border villages
Even after 62 years of independence of the country, it is hard to believe that people living along the remote border areas of Dhubri district in Assam are not only deprived of the basic needs for life but also have to live under constant threat to their lives and property.
Bhogdanga and Faskar-Kuti are two such villages under Golokganj police station of Dhubri district which are located outside the barbed wire fencing between the border pillar nos 1021 and 1022.
These two villages are surrounded by Kacher kuti, Shaber kuti, Kanur goan, Shiver Hut, Balabari, and Angler Kuti of Kurigram district of Bangladesh.
According to official sources, nearly 750 villagers live in 662 bighas of land in Bhogdanga and Fauskarkuti villages under Golakganj Circle but come under the Gouripur legislative assembly constituency of Dhubri district.
