IPL from Premier to Paisa

IPL(Indian Premier League), the brain child of Lalit Modi, former Chairman  of the BCCI is in the news for all the wrong reasons. The rise and fall of its creator Lalit Kumar Modi is itself a Bollywood blockbuster waiting to happen (maybe even Hollywood). In three years the IPL brand has risen to be worth more then $4 billion. The IPL became a platform for the limelight thirsty public figures be it politicians, corporates, film stars or even big businessmen. The cricket players who have their ample share of the media spotlight in the country felt a little left out because of the presence of big wigs such as Sharukh Khan or even Vijaya Mallaya. Everyone was cashing in on the name and fame of the IPL. But as the saying goes ‘ghar ka bhedi lanka dhay’ (the empire falls because of the inside family man) the fairy tale of Mr Lalit Modi had to come to an end. The flamboyance of Lalit Modi  which worked for him until now paved the way for his downfall.
