Green Campaign of Royal Riders
The current year 2010 being the International year of biodiversity, the bikers club in association with several establishments organised widespread tree plantations, social services at Sadu Chiru Waterfall in Bishnupur district, eco-trekking at Langol hill range near Imphal town, spot painting competition for school children, street corner meetings and a motor rally to save the dying Nambul river etc during their month long observation.
Significantly the motor rally which was flagged off from the Kanchup hill range in Senapati district, the birth place of one of India’s polluted rivers Nambul, passed through the river-bank route before it concluded at the historic Hiyangthang temple gate10 km south of Imphal for the third and final street corner meeting.
Finally they wrapped up the month long green campaign by observing a ‘Green concert’ at Bhagyachandra open air theatre in Imphal wherein local rock bands such as Cleave, Kanglasha, Recyle, Chem Weed FM and Brothers Band belted out a number of heart rending numbers to a responsive audience.
