Conserving a Livelihood in Kaziranga National Park
Punen Gogoi dreamt of becoming a popular cine-actor based in Guwahati. His dream was shattered as his attempts to become one not only turned out to be futile but they also pushed him back to his ancestral village Lukhurasonia two decades ago, almost bankrupt. Punen Gogoi did not lose heart and resolved to do something different and meaningful.
Gogoi was, however, confused on how to start the second innings of his life. Then, the idea of starting a private jeep safari inside the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) came to him as an epiphany. One of the two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Assam, Kaziranga National Park is famous for its one-horned rhinoceros and is almost adjacent to his ancestral village.
It was, however, tough to make a final decision.
