Unfolding Art – a Solo Exhibition by Sujata

Unfolding Art –
a Solo Exhibition by Sujata

Art, like beauty, dwells in the eyes of the beholder. Many of us are so caught up with life that we are often indifferent, even oblivious to our surroundings. Every once in a while, however, some of us do slow down long enough to smell the flowers, feel the trickle of the morning dew or take a front row seat as songbirds trill the first notes of their sunrise sonata. Sujata is one such person.
A homemaker with husband Krishna Chokhani and mother of a delightful little daughter named Poojan, Sujata’s passion for art goes as far back in time as she can remember. Even as a child in school, a fertile imagination coupled with the ability to see beauty in the mundane lets this sensitive Arien give wings to her creative streak. Besides sketching and painting she makes gift decorations and other craft work.
Although Sujata learnt the rudiments of art from her art teacher Anil Dasgupta of Kolkata, it was under the tutelage and guidance of the accomplished Shillong based artist Jaya Kalra that Sujata came into her own. “Her faith in me is my inspiration,” Sujata says, “It is she who has given me the courage to organise my first solo exhibition.”
A firm believer in the adage, ‘Live life to the brim’, Sujata thanks God for the gift of creativity and art. Painting, she says, was and will always remain an integral part of her life.”
