New Reality Show for North East

The Programme Production Centre (NE), Doordarshan, Guwahati have planned to organise a first ever NE Music Reality show aptly titled ‘Sursangam’, the reality show promises to be ‘Suro Ka Maha Yudh’. The competitions will be held in two categories – English Pop songs and Old Hindi film melodies. All those between the age group of 18 to 25 years belonging to the North East are eligible to face the preliminary auditions. Through elaborate planning, it has been decided to organise the preliminary rounds in twelve cities of the North East including all the eight state capitals.

The preliminary screening will be done by all Doordarshan Kendras of the North East to be supervised by Programme Production Centre (NE), Doordarshan, Guwahati. The Doordarshan Kendras of the North East under whose guidance the primary rounds will be held include Doordarshan Kendra, Aizawl, Gangtok, Agartala, Kohima, Imphal, Shillong, Itanagar, Guwahati, Tura, Dibrugarh and Silcar. Each of the Kendras will decide the venue of the auditions and the auditions will be completed in 2 to 3 days depending on the number of budding singers. The preliminary rounds in all eight North East states will be completed between 1st January, 2011 and 15th February 2011. The two finalists – one in English Pop songs and Old Hindi melodies from each venue will converge at Guwahati for the final rounds which will be participated in by 22 best English and Hindi singers of the North East. The final rounds will be held in March 2011.

The proposed 33 episodes will be telecast from the first week of February 2011. The programme will be telecast between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm from PPC (NE), Guwahati and the same will be relayed by all Doordarshan Kendras of the North East. The same programme will be retelecast at 9 p.m the same evening.

The competitions will carry a prize money of rupees seven lakhs in addition to glittering trophies.

Although no commitments have come from big industrial houses of the North East as regards sponsorship, PPC (NE), Doordarshan, Guwahati is unearthing the hidden singing talents of youth from the North East, the same will come generously from North East based industrial houses.

Doordarshan Kendras of the North East including Programme Production Centre (NE), Guwahati have started the campaign from 16th August, 2010. Participants can collect the forms from the nearest Doordarshan Kendra or download from the website – ppcneddguwahati.net. The last date of submission of applications is 15th December, 2010.
