The fact that the villagers of Shiv Nagar have renamed their village SnapDeal.com Nagar only show how much gratitude the villagers feel towards Kunal Bahl and his company which leads me to question how long they have been in desperate need of water and why the government has paid no heed to their dire needs and for how long.

Hot heads make for complicated situations. This was clearly the case in the recent rampage in Guwahati. The protestors resorted to violence because the District magistrate could not meet them quick enough??? Seriously!!!! The Police on their part fare no better. What’s the harm in waiting a few minutes, nay an hour for Akhil Gogoi to finish his press conference before arresting him? Maybe the police officers tasked with bringing him in just wanted to be in the limelight, therefore they arrested him in the premises of the Guwahati Press Club where there was an abundant amount of cameras.

Dr. Mukul Sangma seems to be doing a fair job as Meghalaya’s Chief Minister. He has also been lauded in various daily newspapers of Shillong for his leadership skills and work ethics. The fact that D.D. Lapang the former Chief Minister of the state is trying to rock the boat makes me question his motives. If the Doctor is doing a good job, then why seek his ouster? I feel that Dr. D.D. Lapang, in trying to regain the coveted seat of the Chief Minister of Meghalaya is playing with the fate of the state as a whole and is willingly sacrificing the development and wellbeing of the state to sooth his own ego.

The article on Rabindranath Tagore’s sojourn in Shillong is a well written piece with a lot of inputs which not many people know about. The writeris obviously very well versed in the subject and this kind and amount of in depth knowledge can only come about through years of painstaking research and study.Mr. Amalandu Das Gupta’s work is truly appreciated.

S. Thapa, Sikkim

Not often do you hear of somebody using his own passion to the benefit of his acquaintances and colleagues. The way that Anand Wats is helping conserve nature and wildlife and thereby living his dream is truly commendable. His efforts have definitely made a difference as has been seen in the article. People such as these need to be highlighted as their efforts, which can inspire others to do the same are often lost in the hustle and bustle of our modern lives. I must congratulate Eastern Panorama for regularly featuring such great men and women.
