The recent signing of the tripartite pact between the Union Government, the top leaders of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha and the Trinamool Congress government of West Bengal is a giant step towards development of the areas under Gorkhaland Territorial Administration. With the emergence the GTA, I can not help but draw comparisons with the Bodoland Territorial Council and hope that the GTA can emulate the success of the latter or better still, outdo it. The BTC has of late been a role model of development and the GTA should strive to outdo it.

The callous attitude of the people who were in charge of the door to door survey to determine the ‘doubtful’ or D voters of Assam can only be marveled at. What were they thinking when they marked all absentees as ‘D’ voters? The people in charge should themselves be marked as ‘D’ voters and then deported.
