Chekrovolu Swuro (Nagaland – Archery)
Swuro said her next task is to nurture her brother Thupuvoyi, currrently sixth in the national rankings.
Swuro hoped that her Olympic stint would improve sporting infrastructure in the state.
A self-confessed foodie, Swuro said she would miss home-made food during the fortnight-long spectacle.
It was the elder Swuro, Vesuzolu, who brought her into archery.

She was also a part of 2008 Beijing Olympics contingent competing in the women‘s individual as well as team events
She along with Deepika Kumari and Chekrovolu Swuro booked three Olympic quota places at Turin during the world championships in 2011.
M C Mary Kom (Manipur – Boxing)
She is the only boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six World Championships, starting with a silver in the inaugural 2001 edition.
Since her childhood she had been helping her parents by working in the fields, cutting wood, making charcoal and fishing
Initially, after her interest for boxing was revealed, her parents were not happy to see their daughter’s battered and bruised face.
Mary took a two year break from boxing when she gave birth to twins.

Devendro has earned a couple of ‘Best Boxer’ awards in the national circuit during his short career
Shiva Thapa (Assam - Boxing)
His father Padam Thapa is a karate instructor in Guwahati.
His practice first started in the living room of their house at the age of seven
Olympic Gold Quest, a not-for-profit foundation to identify and support Indian athletes, decided to support the young boxer as a part of their Vision 2016 initiative.
Ngangbam Soniya Chanu (Manipur – Weightlifting)
Soniya Chanu has earned several medals and honours including the gold in the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships (2009 and 2010).
After the Asian Championships in Korea, she did not compete in any tournament as one needs at least 20 days of recovery time after an event in this discipline.
Soniya Chanu dedicated her silver medal in the women’s 48 kg class in the Commonwealth Games to crisis – ridden Manipur, hoping that peace would soon return to the insurgency-hit state.
Somdev Devvarman
He hit the headlines for being the only collegiate player to have made three consecutive finals at the NCAA, winning back-to-back finals in his junior and senior years.
In 2011, Devvarman received the Arjuna Award from the Indian government for his national tennis successes.
Devvarman is now professionally managed by Mahesh Bhupathi’s company Globosport.
