Patricia Mukhim who is the editor of Shillong times was the main speaker at the event who said that the heritage building of Shillong are wiped out to allow mortar monstrosities to come up which is because of lack of respect. People just protest inside their homes when they should be coming out into the street and demonstrating against this senseless demolition. Patricia Mukhim also criticized the decision of the government to bring town the Tara Ghar and build the Meghalaya Assembly in that place.

The charms of Shillong are captivating and rare is the soul that has not come under its spell. Whispering pines, gently rolling hills, green meadows, gurgling bro
oks and tall waterfalls hold the heart in thrall. And I must say that I was, and always will be enchanted by this beautiful city. These words written by Late Prof Dipankar Banerjee were the most interesting lines from the book Heritage Shillong. Which captures the mind of any reader" Late Prof Dipankar Banerjee have documented only 50 sites with an earnest hope that some scholars would take up more serious research and comprehensive documentation of such sites.
"Heritage Shillong" is a renaissance of the city which illustrates the times gone by. It contains memories which are worth preserving. The book starts with glimpse of "GS Road"- A road much travelled which highlights on how a detailed topographical study was submitted by Major Edwin Alexander Rowlatt on developing a road between Gauhati and Shillong through Byrnihat, Nongpoh and Umiam. And also how people travelled by foot along the road then slowly and gradually bullock carts started which was replaced by Tonga which was also introduced in GS Road by Jamatullah Khan. Kasimuddin Molla latter introduced yet another novelty on Gauhati-Shillong Road, with two Albino cars named Ranee and Maharani were placed and a motor service was launched. Another chapter called "Welsh Mission Hospital" -Healing Mission shows how Dr H Gordon and his Khasi Missionaries together made the dream of making the first hospital with modern surgical facilities a reality. Then comes the most famous "Delhi Mistan Bhandar"-has always had a cosmopolitan clientele, its hot and crispy, crunchy and syrupy jalebis are matchless and which still remains a legend, this place is a famous fare which is one of the oldest and famous eatery which witnessed famous customer like Jawaharlal Nehru during his visit to Shillong.
A chapter on "Seng Khasi Hall" for the sake of culture deals with how the North Eastern part of India felt the presence of British and soon took a toll on the Khasi state, a good number of khasi people in every village began to be attracted to the new faith this created social tension since a group of tradition and heritage conscious Khasis felt their culture was in danger. It was then Seng Khasi organization was formed in which Babu Jeebon Roy contributed for maintaining the culture. Seng Khasi organization was established on 23 November 1899 under the chairmanship of Rash Mohan Roy Nongrum. Chandranath Roy and Babu Jeebon Roy were founder secretaries.

"Golf Club"- greens and fairway where three gentlemen- Captain Jackson, CK Rhodes and EL Watts- planned a 5966 yard, 18-hole, 70-par golf course at the present site and in October 1924 the Golf Club was formally opened. "Guidetti Bakery"-Baking History the most sought after confectionary in Laitumkhrah, Shillong which deals with the Georgio's journey from World War I in 1912 to
Bombay where he joined the Taj Hotel latter he reached Shillong and met Morello who was a famous baker of Shillong learnt that he was short of hand and that Georgio could take his place. And many more chapter's which has nostalgic glimpse of their own which takes us to a memory lane. Every chapter with its pictures has something interesting in it which is worth reading.
The other edition is a book called Shillong Canvas which contains a huge collection of pictures like Dewdrops on colorful flowers, Creepers clinging to wet moss, Clouds caressing pine trees, Mist nestling in the moors, Puddle on green meadows, Happy women with loads of firewood on their back, Smiling children selling fresh greens, Wood fire spiraling out of tin chimneys, The mist beneath the woods which makes us remember our past days, Old and wise paying their attention towards the new generation, Australian pines which is abandon with silence. These are few of the pictures which gives us a beautiful glimpse on the beauty of Shillong which is hard to pay no heed to.
