NOT A HAPPY MAN
The President of the Hills State Peoples Democratic Party, Ardent Basawiawmoit is not a happy man. He had lost the elections from the Nongkrem constituency to an independent candidate, Lambor Malngiang who had joined the new Meghalaya Democratic Alliance. The HSPDP, had managed only two prestigious seats. Samlin Malngiang from Sohiong, who unseated former Home Minister H. Donkupar Lyngdoh. The other being Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, who defeated Veteran Rowell Lyngdoh from the Mawkyrwat constituency. Samlin Malngiang is among those who have been included in the eleven member cabinet. The HSPDP chief had directed the two HSPDP winners not to have any connections with the new Government, which was ignored. Ardent had skipped the swearing in ceremony of the ministers at Raj Bhavan. Ardent had therefore resigned as HSPDP President, as he felt that it was not right for him to lead the party, if the new two elected members had defied the party order. He had also voiced his opposition of Conrad Sangma being the Chief Minister instead of Prestone Tynsong.
