BREAKING THE ICE
Breaking the ice to overcome the stalemate, was the only solution. It was therefore the anti Congress wave that sprung into action. This alertness had paid the desired goal, when the regional parties had grouped together, to pool together their kitty enabling them to cross the magic figure by rallying around the National Peoples Party (NPP), which happen to be a ruling partner with the BJP in the Central Government. It was a strategy that had paid a good dividend. The Congress had followed forth in making a similar move, but it was too late and missed the bus Conrad Sangma, the NPP National President, was unanimously chosen to head the new Government without any hitch. The Regional Democratic Alliance , has therefore come to stay in Meghalaya in governing the state. Twelve cabinet ministers have been sworn in by the Governor Ganga Prasad, in the lawns of the Raj Bhavan in Shillong. The new Government would however prove its majority in due course.
