It is in this context that we must play a little riddle. What a person should do to arrest this beauty? The answer is really very simple. Just click it. And that is what Prime Minister Narendra Modi did on arriving in Sikkim, a land that he described as “Serene and Splendid”.  

Coming to Sikkim to translate the dream of every Sikkimese to have an airport of their own into a reality, the Prime Minister just could not resist the temptation of turning a photographer. He clicked the camera to preserve the beauty of Sikkim.

The unprecedented police action on the five boys’ hostels of the university, six professors of the university and seven student leaders are lodged in jail under judicial custody with the arrested students and teachers refusing bail. Meanwhile K. Yugindro Singh, the Pro Vice Chancellor on whose complaint the police action took place has suspended the six arrested professors, following their remand in judicial custody.

The expansion work of the Jowai-Ratacherra road was approved under Phase-III of the National Highway Development Programme which connects Meghalaya with neighbouring North Eastern States including Assam and Mizoram.The National Highway project was constructed at a cost of Rs 683 Crore which will reduce the travel time between Jowai and Ratacherra from four hours to two hours at present.

26th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference to be held in Philippines

Three Members of Meghalaya Bharat Scout and Guide are selected to represent India at the 26th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference to be held in Philippines from 15th to 20th October 2018. These candidates include Terang B. Marak, Kebinson Thongni and Idason Kharlukhi. The boys were given an official sent off in the State Head Quarter by Chief Secretary Smt. A. Swer and State Commissioner (Guides) Smt. Diana Kharshing and all other members of the MBSG fraternity. While giving word of advice to the candidates A. Swer remind the boys to remember the values of being a Scout and to be attentive during the conference so that they can share the values when they return to the State. She also encourages the candidates to be active and representative in the course of the conference and be part in the decision making.

The Asia Pacific Regional Scout Conference is held every three years to gather all the NSO’s to deal with major regional problems.

World Sight Day 2018 in Shillong

On the occasion of ‘World Sight Day 2018’ the 'Project Vision Northeast' today organized 'Blind Walk Shillong' to create awareness on the prevention, cure and rehabilitation. 

The ‘Blind Walk Shillong' is a conglomerate movement of different organization across all spheres of life in Shillong. It comprises of Bansara Eye Care Centre, Church of North India (CNI), Jain Community, Rotary Club Orchid City, Marwari Mahila Samity, Innerwheel Club, Punjabi Sabha, Jyoti Sroat School, Quinee school, R.B Anoopchand school, Society for Promotion of Eye Care & Sight, Lions Clubs of Shillong, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), All India Malayalee community, different Religious bodies and other communities as well as different Educational Institutes.

Chief Guest Shri. Pravin Bakshi IAS, Secretary Health & Family Welfare Government of Meghalaya flag off the walk. Speaking on the occasion Pravin Bakshi, empowered the visually challenged individuals by stating that they should not feel any different nor be discouraged with their condition, however, they should forge ahead following their dreams so as to set an example for others to follow and that the Government is more than ready to promote noble initiatives such as the one held today.
