G-20 Presidency for India
From December 1 this year, India will assume the G-20 Presidency for a year and chair over 200 meetings that aims to secure global economic growth and prosperity. The importance of the G-20 can well be understood by the fact that it represents more than 80% of the world GDP, 75% international trade and 60% of the world population. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi said that India’s G-20 Presidency is a proud occasion for every Indian and the country will organise G-20 meeting in different cities and state. It is interesting to note that several meeting will also be organised in the different cities of North East India. This will promote tourism as well as awareness on economic investment, opportunities in the region such as power, tourism, fashion designing, agriculture and sports, beside many others will be available plenty in the region. The much needed publicity of the region is expected during the summit.
Decentralization of G-20 meetings in various parts of the country will reflect the diversity of the country. The G-20 Presidency will steer the G-20 agenda for one year and host the leaders summit. Even though the Presidency of G-20 does not have any formal power but yet it can influence the decision and can emerge as a leader of humanity. The two parallel trace i.e. Finance Trace (led by Finance Minister and Central Bank Governors of the member countries) and the Sherpa Trace ( personal emissaries of the leaders) are responsible for discussions agenda items for the summit and co-ordinating the activities of G-20. In addition, there are also 10 engagement groups, which bring together civil societies parliamentarians, think tanks, women, youth, labour businesses and researchers of the G-20 countries.
This way it gives an opportunity to member countries to work for the betterment of the life of citizen and better understanding between the countries. India always believe in the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family), will definitely find a pragmatic global solutions for the well being of humanity. This Presidency will give Mr. Narendra Modi an added opportunity to show his leadership for the welfare of all humanity. We wish the mantra of India i.e. One Earth, One Family and one Future will gain momentum through this Presidency.
