St Anthony’s College win Meghalaya First Sport Quiz Competition

St Anthony’s College Shillong won Meghalaya First Sport Quizz Competition organized by the Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA) at U Soso Tham Auditorium here today. The competition was organized as part of its celebrations of Olympic Day 2019. The college was represented by Ricarldy Dkhar and Roger V. Kharbamon. St Anthony’s College secures a total of 110 points, Synod College with 70 points and Women’s College 40 points to bagged 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

All together six colleges took part in the quiz which was played over 11 rounds and which covered a range of brainteaser topics that provided plenty of fun for the participants and audience alike. East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Matsiewdor War Nongbri was the chief guest on the occasion.

Punjab delegation have faith in Meghalaya Government

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh sends five-member delegation to discussed with Meghalaya Home Minister, James K. Sangma to discussed the issues relating the security of settlers at Them ïew Mawlong. The delegation comprised of Cooperation and Jails Minister, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Member of Parliamnet Jasbir Singh Gill Dimpa, and Ravneer Singh Bittu, and MLAs Kuldeep Singh Vaid, and Kulbir Singh Zira.

The team visited the state to know the situation after banned outfit Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) issued a warning to the Harijan Panchayat Committee for asking the Shillong Municipal Board to withdraw the public notices which were served to the residents of Them ïew Mawlong asking them to submit documents to the Board to prove that they are genuine settlers.

Jasbir Singh Gill Dimpa told reporters “we had a very good meeting and satisfied by its outcome.” He added that “the Meghalaya government is sincere to restore normalcy and to come out with a long lasting solution, we have faith in the government and the people of Meghalaya who are very warm and gave us all the love and affection,” The Punjab MP said that the issue should be settled once and for all and hoped that the high level committee of the state government would come up with a feasible solution.

After Jackfruit Mission, Mushroom Mission, Milk Mission and Aroma Mission, Meghalaya Government launched another mission, the ‘Meghalaya Muga Mission’ to promote and give value addition to ‘muga’ silk in the state.

The Meghalaya ‘Muga mission’ was launched by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on 28 May 2019 with an aim to boost ‘muga’ production over the next five years. The muga silkworm rearing is found only in the Northeastern region of the country, mainly in the Brahmaputra Valley and in the foothills of Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. In Meghalaya, muga is traditionally cultivated in West Khasi hills, East Garo hills, North Garo Hills, West Garo Hills and Ri-Bhoi districts. The mission entails a financial implication of more than Rs 138 crore from 2019 to 2024.

MCTA accused College governing body of discriminating teachers

Members of the Meghalaya College Teachers Associations (MCTA) alleged the Governing body of St Edmund Colleges of discriminating the Teaching Faculty by setting different rules and regulation in the college. General Secretary of MCTA Professor Amanda Basaiwmoit this act of the governing body is a violation of the fundamentals rights of the teacher’s individually. She added that no Governing body can make different rule for teachers who performed the same duty with same qualification employed by the same institution. The Association will seek the intervention of both Minister of education and Director of education said Professor Batskhem Myrboh who is the Joint Secretary of MCTA.  

Professor Shiv K Pradhan Joint Secretary Academics with NEHU Matters said that such steps by the Governing Body of any college will led to the feeling of discrimination the teaching faculty of teachers. These separate rules led to differences of salaries among teachers.

Hybrid High-Impact Pedagogy to Enhance Learning Experience among Students – Dr. Nripendra Singh

Dr. Nripendra Singh is the Professor of Marketing in the College of Business Administration at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, USA. He is involved in a discussion with professors at Shillong University to improve teaching and learning for students in their department. MSOA to conduct Sport Quiz competition

To celebrate the ‘Olympic Day’ the Meghalaya State Olympic Association will organize the ‘Inter College Sport Quiz Competition’ on 18th June 2019 in the U Soso Tham Auditorium. This was announced by Working President John F. Kharshing during the press conference in the office of the Meghalaya of the State Olympic Association. Speaking during the meeting Vice President of MSOA Ion Lyngdoh said that this is the first time that such quiz on ‘Sports’ is being organize in the State to test the youth on their knowledge on sports around the world. For this competition Smt. War Nongbri the Deputy Commissioner East Khasi hills Meghalaya will grace the occasion.

The MSOA will also organize ‘The Shillong 10 km City Run’ on the 22nd of June to celebrate the occasion. People from all walks of life can participate in the run. Winners will be awarded with 10,000, 7,000 5000 respectively. Minister of Sport Banteidor Lyngdoh will flag off the run.
