The Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) team nabbed a person with suspected drugs. According to East Khasi Hills police, in its continuous efforts to eradicate the drug menace in the city the police is now targeting the drug sale purchase network.
The ANTF team after tracking the movements of petty drug peddlers was able to pin down the location of one of the middle level supplier in Laitumkhrah on Monday night. The ANTF team and Laitumkhrah Police Station staff were able to arrest Rintu Saikia of Central Nongrim Hills. On searching his house suspected Heroin weighing 58.78 grams packed in five soap cases were recovered and seized under due procedures of NDPS Act.
The Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) Central body has decided to dissolve the HANM Women’s Wing which was led by Betty Jyrwa. Bobby Basiawmoit who is the General Secretary said that the reason for the dissolve of the Women’s Wings because many members of the wing do not take part in the organization’s struggle like the fight for the ILP, CAB and many other cause which HANM has take up. Basiawmoit also recalled that HANM has denounced Betty Jyrwa after she contest for the MLA election in 2018.
Mean while Lamphrangsnghi Kharbani who is the President said that the the organization many a times have had complain regarding the anti-organization elements in the Women Wings unit. The President also warns any other Units or Circles who are trying to break way from HANM and trying to form Interest Groups. HANM have also submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills to not grant permission to any person with such interest.

The cabinet discussed the following agenda
1)Amendment of Meghalaya Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules 2011. In conformity to the amendment of central rules to Right to Education, the cabinet has approved the amendment of Meghalaya Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education 2011.
2)Seeking cabinet approval for approval of the Meghalaya Community Participation and Public Services Social Audit Services Rules 2017. The department of C & RD had sought approval for the draft rules to the Original Act and the cabinet has approved the proposed draft rules.
3)The cabinet through the Programme Implementation Department decided to aggressively implement further systematic review of departments in every district. The cabinet also decided to have one minister in every district for one year to have systematic departmental review meetings with the district heads.
4)Proposal on solid waste management by Urban Affairs department- Solid Waste Management Policy. The cabinet has approved the proposal which will come into force immediately.
5)Proposal from Commerce & Industry department- Meghalaya Start up Policy 2018. The cabinet has approved the proposal to help young and talented entrepreneurs of the State.
6)Meghalaya State Sports Policy 2018- The department presented the draft policy which the cabinet approved after fine tuning all aspects of the policy.
North Eastern Hills University Student Union (NEHUSU) Adviser Rangdajied Marwein said that over 200 students mark sheets of 5th semester were given inaccurate marking by the Exam Controller of NEHU. Out of 200 students, 60 students mark sheet were re-evaluate and found out that 30 student’s mark sheets were genuine in giving inaccurate marking by the Exam Controller. The Union alleged that this is not the first in which such inaccurate marking were given by the University. It had also happened in 2018 but to only to Students studying in NEHU itself. The NEHUSU also remind NEHU that UGC have directed the University to fill up the vacancy within Six month for both Teaching and Non-Teaching staff, if fail to do so the UGC will stop providing grant to the University (NEHU).
