Minister Resigns for Chakma Right in Mizoram
The day after the letter was forwarded to the Mizoram Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma, he immediately accepted his resignation on 24th August 2017. According to the Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, the Congress Government in Mizoram never discriminated against Chakma tribals or any other genuine inhabitants of the state. He also stated that, Government does not want illegal migrants, Chakma or any other communities from adjoining states and neighbouring countries to settle in the state and enjoy equal rights and status with the domicile citizens.” Thanhawla informed that there would be no cabinet reshuffle even after the resignations of two ministers, including Buddha Dhan Chakma.
