Meghalaya Governor, Shri. Satya Pal Malik inaugurated the new school and college building of Shri. Kanchi Kamakoti Vidya Bharati Vidyalaya at Mawbah, Barapathar, Shillong.

Addressing the gathering Shri. Satya Pal Malik lamented the fact that the education sector is not given its due importance in the country. Informing that barely 6% of the country’s budget is utilized for education, he said, that while universities in the USA and UK have hundreds of Nobel Peace Prizes, India boasts of only 12.

The results of the 3rd edition of ranking of states on support to the start-up ecosystem were released by Shri. Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry on 4th July, 2022 in a felicitation ceremony in New Delhi.

A total of 24 states and 7 UTs participated in the exercise with 7 reform areas and 26 action points. The states were categorized in five groups - Best Performers, Top Performers, Leaders, Aspiring Leaders and Emerging Startup Ecosystem. Meghalaya was placed in the ‘Best Performers’ category along with the states of Gujarat and Karnataka. This is a huge honour and recognition for the State and its entrepreneurs.

The agriculture and horticulture sector in Nagaland has a great potential and is working ahead to become the organic hub of the country, it has the potential to export not only within the country but can be exported outside the country and the central government is also moving ahead with the state government in this regard. The Honey Laboratory was recently inaugurated at Beekeeping Mission 7th Mile Dimapur by the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar. The minister stated that the needs of the Nagaland are not only the needs of Nagas but the needs of the nation and when they are fulfilled, it will be the fulfillment of the nation.

In line with the clarion call given by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, to phase out single use plastic items by 2022, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India notified the Plastic Waste Management Amendment Rules, 2021, on 12 August 2021. Carrying forward the spirit of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava’, a defining step to curb pollution caused by littered and unmanaged plastic waste is being taken by the country. India will ban manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of identified single use plastic items, which have low utility and high littering potential, all across the country from July 1, 2022.
