The CPI (M) in Tripura has faced the challenge for the first time in it’s existence in the state before independence when BJP-IPFT government accused one of it’s senior most leader and longest serving minister Badal Choudhury in Rs 164 Cr scam under PWD during 2008 – 09. While ruling BJP claimed it as a smallest financial scam of 25 –yrs old uninterrupted communist rule in the state, CPI (M) accused Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb of pursuing vendetta politics to secure his chair. Though there was so far no trailing record of money claimed to be siphoned off, the documents showed it was a gross irregularity in the part of the government. Two subsequent actions, one from the part of the government and other from the accused persons made police hostile, which might create disruption in the process of investigation and obvious result. The allegations lost it’s merit at the initial phase when state vigilance authority filed an FIR naming three persons – the then Minister Badal Choudhury, then Principal Secretary PWD who retired as Chief Secretary Y P Singh and then Chief Engineer Sunil Bhowmik under section 418, 409, 420, 201, 120 (B) of Indian Panel Code and section 13 of Prevention of Corruption Act. Immediately police swung into action and arrested Sunil Bhowmik.

Plastic has entered our planet in 1870. John Wesley Hyatt, an American extracted plastic from a material called celluloid. By 2015, the world produced 322 million tons of plastic. But realization of adverse impact of plastic on environment has dawned. Today, the world has to struggle to recover from plastic deluge. In this battle, against plastic human must achieve victory and, failing that, plastic will lay us to the rest. If human is the part of problem, human can be a part of solution to that problem. The recent call of avoiding the single-use of plastic sound convincing. It is going to be just a step forward friendly to Nature considering the host of human activities which are detrimental to Nature. The natural environment is dying for a much-needed respite from plastic pollutant. The move is laudable given the disastrous effect of this nuisance on our planet. It should have been a reality long ago, because non-biodegradable plastic has already taken toll on the health of environment, but better late than never.

The Indian National Congress (INC) will firmly, strongly and clearly oppose Citizenship Amendment Bill.

The MP went on to say that CAB is Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) project to divide India on religious line.

Commenting on the issues of NRC in Assam Congress senior leader Jairam Ramesh said that the Indian National Congress is not opposing to the principles of NRC but it firmly oppose to the methodology of implementing the NRC in the State. “The methodology used by the present BJP Government in the State has cause lots of harassment to the poor and downtrodden genuine citizen of India” he added, Its is disturbing news to know that Jaintia women who got married in Assam were not included in the NRC list he lament.

The MP said that as a political party the Congress is willing to work for a solution to indentify genuine illegal immigrants but will not stand by and watch the harassment caused by the present methodology in implementing the NRC in the state.
