Shillong to become not just smart but liveable city

The CCTV control room at Sadar Police StationChief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma has said that his Government plans to make Shillong not just a smart city but the safest and most liveable one in the world.

“The government has many plans for our capital city and CCTV surveillance is just one of them. Our ultimate aim is not just to create smart city, but making Shillong a liveable city is in our agenda” Sangma said while inaugurating the CCTV Surveillance under Safe and Secure Shillong project at Shillong Sadar Police Station.

5 top KPLT ultras nabbed in Karbi Anglong

Biggest solar plant in Northeast begins power generation

Northeast India’s biggest solar power plant has generated optimum power on February 8, after five days of commissioning. The plant is situated at Monarchak in Tripura and is run by the Northeast Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO).

“The 5 MW solar plant that was commissioned on February 2 would be feeding to the grid of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) at the cost of Rs 7 per unit,” said Monarchak project head S R Biswas.According to him, NEEPCO,

IED, mortars of WW II found

A powerful IED was found planted at a drain at Ishirow under Heingang police station Imphal East along the Imphal-Ukhrul road by an ROP team of 45 Assam Rifle Meanwhile, three rusted 81 mm mortar shells, believed to be of WW-II era, were discovered during excavation of earth for construction of Chingdompok-Khongjom road According to reports culled from the spot, a team of 45 Assam Rifles and locals came across the explosive device being planted at a roadside drain in between Khabeisoi and Sajiwa jail at around 6.45 am in the morning. The explosive was suspected to be planted to target the security personnel.
