Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit (UPGIS) 2023 scheduled from 10-12 February 2023 at Lucknow, is the flagship Investment Summit of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The 3-day long Investors Summit will bring together policy makers, corporate leaders, business delegations, academia, think-tanks, political and government leadership from across the globe, to collectively explore business opportunities and forge partnerships. UPGIS 2023 is an initiative aligned to the vision of the  Prime Minister of India, of making our country a USD 5 Trillion economy, towards which the Government of Uttar Pradesh has set an aspiration target of making the State a USD 1 Trillion economy in next 5 years.

If everything goes as planned, it seems days are not far off when Assam will emerge as the country’s prime hub of trade and commerce facilitating an accelerated growth of the development-deficit but resource-rich State. The State government under the current proactive and dynamic Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, is considering to revoke the controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA) from more areas in Assam, which was considered to be one of the major hurdles on the way to its fast-track development.

The Koch Kingdom was a state situated between the Mughal Empire and the Ahom Kingdom. For the Ahom Kingdom, it was an important buffer state for keeping Mughal imperialist expansions at bay. Things began to change when the erstwhile ruler of the Koch Kingdom, Nara Narayana died in 1587. As a result, the Koch kingdom was divided into two – the western Koch Bihar rule by his son Lakshmi Narayan and the eastern Koch Hajo rule by his nephew, Raghudev Lakshmi Narayan formed an alliance with the Mughal Empire, following which the governor of Bengal, assistance attacked Parikshit Narayan, son of Raghudev at Dhubri in 1602. Following a series of battles, Parikshit Narayan was defeated but his brother Bali Narayana took refuge in the Ahom Kingdom.

The Sangai Festival is the largest tourism festival in Manipur. The festival is named  after the state animal Sangai, the brow-antlered deer found only in Manipur. The Festival  have been organized grandly this time after the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country since last two years. The festival is celebrated as the ‘Festival of Oneness’ to encourage a sense of  belongingness, and pride in ownership of the land among the people.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Dec 5, 2022, presided over a meeting of leaders from all political parties marking India’s presidency of the G-20 in New Delhi and sought their cooperation to make it a huge success as the government made a presentation of its year-long programme in the run-up to the summit. During the two-hour meeting, Mr Modi emphasised the importance of teamwork, and sought the cooperation of all leaders. He was perhaps right, as it was an occasion for the entire nation to be proud of and every individual must contribute for its success.
