GNC to give out forms on 21st October

 

The Garo National Council (GNC) in a statement said it will give out form for its aspirant candidate on the 21st October in order to prepare for the 2018 Election. Speaking at the meeting the Vice President Mr. Agustine Marak said the party has already forms its Election Committee with Mr. Henington R. Marak as its chairman, Wining Ch. Marak as its Co-Chairman and Mr. H.A Marak as its Secretary. The Party is preparing to win maximum number of seats in the Garo Hills region by contesting in 7 constituencies in the region.

SSTS bus loses control leaving one critically injured

 

One Shillong Special transport Service (SSTS) bus bearing a number ML 01 6855 which was coming from Smit today early morning collide with 5 Maruti Alto including local taxi and left 1 person critically injured in Mawblei. According to eye witnessed the driver of the bus loses control over the vehicles due to break failed which result in collision with other Maruti cars. Other eye witnesses blamed it on the wet and slippery road due to heavy rain from last night. Injured people were moved to different hospital in Shillong for treatments.

100% reservation in Legislative Assembly for tribal’s

With only few months for the general the Meghalaya People United Front (MUPF) submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer Government of Meghalaya seeking a reservation for all the 60 seats in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. MPUF in its memorandum also demanded to reserve 100 per cent seats in the Legislative Assembly for tribal’s of Meghalaya.

In the memorandum submitted to the Chief Election Officer recently the MPUF demanded implementation of the Act. Mr Dawanpoimi Laloo president of MPUF said that if the government maintains silence on the matter the MPUF will resort to take legal recourse.

 

Mr Laloo added that if other states like Arunachal and Mizoram can implement such reservation then why will it be difficult for Meghalaya to do the same.

Comingone Ymbon to look into MPWU concerns

The ongoing peaceful protest by the Progressive Workers Union (MPWU) of the MeECL gain momentum when the Mr Comingone Ymbon Power Minister assured them that he will look into their concerns personally.

The Minister said he will look into the matter and he will gather information from the Management of MeECL. Meanwhile the union will continue its black flag and lunch time protest meetings across the state until the management called up for open discussions with MPWU on the various demands.

The demand of the workers include Leave, Gratuity and leave, Overtime, Bonus, PF, Employers State Insurance or ESI to ensure health coverage, accident compensation, Maternity benefits, crèches, protection from Sexual Harassment etc should be accorded to all workers of MeECL.

 

The Union will again meet the Labour Minister on Tuesday 24th October in this regard.

Olanding Suin Mawsynram’s UDP candidtate

Tamdorlang Risaw along with hundreds of his supporters joined the United Democratic Party (UDP) of Mawsynram circle. Risaw earlier had contested the district council elections against sitting MLA and suspended Congress leader PN Syiem but face defeat.

 

The motive behind Risaw collaboration with UPD is to lend support to Olanding Suin the UDP’s candidate from Mawsynram for the upcoming election. The official joing of Mr. Risaw was witness by Rymphang Wansai vice president, UDP EKH district, and GB Kharraswai, chief organiser of UDP Mawsynram constituency, and many party officials.
