Call it COVID-19 economic exit plan or Covid Relief Package, the fiscal stimulus of a whooping Rs. 20 lakh crore by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi indeed is perhaps the world’s single biggest fund-injection done by a country of the world in the Corona-time.

This certainly will act as a Game Changer for Indian economy both from the micro and macro angles. This can be gauged from the fact that this package is around 10% of the total GDP of India. In other words, this is the most sustainable economic reach-out ever done in a country.

Seasonal migration for work is a pervasive reality in rural India. An overwhelming 120 million people or more are estimated to migrate from rural areas to urban labour markets, industries and farms. Migration has become essential for people from regions that face frequent shortages of rainfall or suffer floods, or where population densities are high in relation to land. Areas facing unresolved social or political conflicts also become prone to migration. Poverty, lack of local options and the availability of work elsewhere have become the trigger and the pull for rural migration respectively.

We do not know if any third country is pulling its Kathmandu-string to make Nepal go against its old friend India but the current postures of the Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli forces us to conclude, he indeed is alienating the Himalayan nation from New Delhi.

Since November, 2020, the Maoist Government of Nepal had been chanting anti-India rhetoric just for nothing. Now Kathmandu has released a New Political Map of Nepal showing Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura as part of its sovereign territory.

The Oli Government rejected India’s territorial claim on these three places violating international norms and also putting into jeopardy its old friendly ties with New Delhi.
