Is BJP "communal Govt" in NE region?

The congress which would go all out single handed in ensuing Meghalaya legislative election has termed the Modi’s Government in New Delhi as a “communal government” which does not fit into the mindset of the Northeastern Region. Voicing this opinion the All India Congress Committee, Minority department said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cannot stand at its own fit and strength and is depending on other parties such as the National People Party (NPP), to come about in understanding, forming a post alliance in forming a government which would not work. Therefore the BJP is only dreaming of capturing power in Meghalaya with anti-minority policies. The NPP however would not be banking in other parties whether national or regional having a good standing on its feet at the present.

BJP at slow and steady race

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems not to be in a hurry in the race for the 2018 assembly elections even when it is expected that some of the sitting legislators would join the party. The main object of the BJP is to keep at bay the Congress, a party which had ruled the roost for so long in Meghalaya mainly because the regional parties cannot keep themselves together. This time however the regional parties are attempting to bind together, yet with no sign of specific seriousness. The BJP however is executing the plan in strengthening the party at all levels. The BJP has not made known the candidates. So there is a kind of a veil of secrecy in the BJP camp which can be a tactical move in the chess board of political games. The party is however awaiting the blessing and presence of the Prime Minister himself who is expected to set foot in Shillong next month.

Threat against Anti party Activities

The Congress party has threatened to punish and take severe action against party members including cabinet ministers for anti party activities that can accuse the weakening of the party in the ensuing assembly polls. The state Congress has also brought to the notice of the high command of the activities of the rebels. Prominent among these are two cabinet ministers Rowell Lyndoh who was also former Deputy Chief Minister and also Prestone Tynsong. However it is a foregone conclusion that the Congress rebels would not heed to the party dictate. The situation therefore does not augur well for the Congress, especially at this crucial juncture when the party needs a boost up to face the election battle to capture as many seats as possible so as to retain power in the governance of the state. It has to be seen whether the Congress would only issue show cause notices to rebel legislators or to expel them outright from the party.
