ISIS TRAIL OF TERROR

Active in South Assam

Jyoti Lal Chowdhury

South Assam, better known as Barak Valley, in close proximity to the borders of Bangladesh, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur and Meghalaya has been known as ‘an island of peace’ in North East India notwithstanding some discordant notes. But, the recent unearthing of a racket with a wide network engaged in recruits for ISIS and fake passports has jolted the administration, security and intelligence agencies of Karimganj and Cachar districts, nay the state, and sent alarming bell to the seat of administration, Dispur. Great sensation prevailed when police acting on specific inputs arrested 4 Bangladeshis and 2 Indian linkmen from Balia near Bangladesh border under Nilambazar police station.
