Kenya Presidential Election
Under tight security voters all over Kenya were seen forming long lines at many polling stations since dawn waiting for the chance to cast their votes in the tightly contested race for the President election as well as more than 1,800 elected positions, including governors, legislative representatives, and county officials.
The race is between President Uhuru Kenyatta and its challenger Raila Odinga. Large turnouts of voters can be seen as a hope for free and fair election as the country does not want to repeat the tragic of 2007 as thousand lives were lost due to ethnic clashing. Though there were fears among voters when the electoral official in charge was murdered few days before the election.
The Kenya’s electoral commission is expected to collect large numbers of votes from nearly 20 million registered voters from more than 40,000 polling stations.
