NEUFC to break even in next two seasons
ISL franchise North-East United FC owner John Abraham will be the first team in ISL to break-even. With the fourth season of ISL it has plan to breakeven in fifth or sixth season, while the other ISL teams are targeting to break-even in the seventh or eighth season. NEUFC is working on the economic scale and also at the grass root with local boys as it prefer local sponsors. NEUFC is also very reasonable in terms of pricing of tickets during the matches and highly appreciated the support of the government machinery. NEUFC has tied up with two clubs in Shillong and in Manipur. NEUFC has conducted scouting across Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Manipur and selected 48 kids for training them at the residential academy where all their needs, including education will be taken care of. John Abraham said, “Football is not cricket yet, but it will be new cricket in a period of time”. Actor John Abraham has started working on the project based on soccer where the script is ready for his new film on football.
Shillong young footballers to China
Shillong Lajong Under-12 youth team participated in the very first edition of BRICS International Youth Football Tournament held in Putian, China. Shillong Lajong FC Academy was the only team to represent India in the tournament. It was hosted by the local government of Putian and the General Administration of Sport of Putian, operated by Fujian Aoxuan Football club and Quansheng International Sports Management Co. Ltd. Shillong Lajong General Manager, Habamutlang Lyngdoh was extremely pleased with these young and talented players hailing from different parts of Meghalaya who showcased their talent.
Junior world no. 1 Indian shuttler wins Bulgaria Open
India’s Lakshya Sen, who is currently the world number one junior shuttler, won the Bulgaria Open International Series title, a day after turning 16 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The Uttarakhand shuttler defeated Croatia’s Zvonimir Durkinjak 18-21, 21-12, 21-17 in the 57-minute-long final. Notably, Lakshya had earlier reached the finals of the Senior National championship in February.
Standing tall at World Dwarf Games
The Indian contingent that participated in the World Dwarf Games won a total of 37 medals including 15 gold medals, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals at the international competition with Jon Matthew being the standout performer of India winning two gold, three silvers and a bronze. The seventh edition of the game was held over a week at the University of Guelph in Ontario province and featured close to 400 athletes from 24 countries.Add a comment
