The anti-India international quarters may have been brewing up their evil game of shadow fighting for decades together but it never was so blatant as happened during the India visit of the US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump.

Irked at the bonhomie shown towards India by the USA, such pro-Jihadist international quarters used their traditional trump-card during the Trump-visit by sparking off the communal violence using the CAA as an alibi in the streets of Delhi. Donald Trump, the First Lady Melania, daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner came to India during a 36-hour official tour during which several business deals including the purchase of defence hardware were inked between India and USA.

Since independent India in 1947, Northeast India has witnessed a bewildering line-up of insurgencies encompassing states such as Nagaland, Mizoram Manipur, Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, as well as the upper Sagaing region of Myanmar. The Naga insurgency which came to birth as ‘Naga hostiles’ is without a doubt, the ‘mother’ of insurgencies in the region considering its military and political strength.

Fortunately for India, the hostilities with major Naga armed groups ended since 1997 through Ceasefire Agreements and dug-in on a never-ending spree of peace negotiation.

Meghalaya Legislative Assembly passed resolution to exempt the state from CAA

The state Assembly has passed a government resolution to urge the Centre to exempt the entire state including the areas not covered under the Sixth Schedule from the purview of the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 (CAA), 2019. The resolution was moved by the chief minister Conrad K Sangma during the second day of the Assembly’s budget session here on Monday.

Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma said that there are 27 municipal wards out of which 23 are under the Sixth Schedule areas while the remaining four wards covering an area of 2 square kilometers (out of 23,000 sq.km) falls outside the sixth schedule areas.

Conrad K Sangma also said that constitutionally the state government is not in a position to reject the CAA but can only urge the Centre to exempt the entire state and since the Act came into force, there has not been a single person who has applied for citizenship from the state government.

“It would give 100 percent exemption to us. I urge this house to pass this resolution and send strong message to Centre that we want the entire state to be exempted from the purview of the CAA,” he added.
