SESHAN Vs ASSAM

Press criticism, opposition, insults, administrative censurenothing moves the man. Atleast one national paper has described him editorially as “one who clearly regards himself above the law”.

On his own admission Chief Election commissioner T.N. Seshan is a person who “reluctantly” took over the job. Few believe him. If he did, he started savouring the power and constitutional privilege that came with the job with a rare and earthly relish. In the process there is reason to conclude that he has done enough harm to centre-state relations, created administrative problems which few would be able to resolve and generally created trouble for the political parties, the administration and the people. It is clearly time to tell him to go and godspeed before he causes more harm.
