SIKKIM UPRISING EDIFICATION - WITH BRITISH COUNCIL INDIA

To enhance quality education in the state Government schools of Sikkim, Human Resource Development department have signed three years MoU with the British Council (India).

 

The MoU was signed by British Council Director Alan Gemmell and the state HRD department Principal Secretary, G.P Upadhyaya with an aim to have collaboration between the British Council and HRDD in areas of English, Education and skills by strengthening the capacity of teachers and other professionals and showcase interventions to support the creative and cultural economy of Sikkim.

The MoU(Memorandum of understanding) signed here at Gangtok on 12 June, was witnessed by officials of British Council and the state HRDD.

Under this MoU, British Council would be training selected group of teachers from Government schools to become master trainers for the remaining school teachers.

Before these, team of British Council visited the Government schools in all the four districts of Sikkim and interacted with teachers, students, parents and school management committees. Besides that, they also held a meeting with SCERT and DIET faculty members and officials of HRDD.
