CPC gear up for Puja
The Central Puja Committe (CPC) Shillong is set to celebrate eco-friendly Puja which will start from 26th this month. The committee has set up around 231 pandal for this auspicious occasion out which 64 are in Shillong or its nearby place.
Speaking to press the committee President Shri Naba Bhattacharjee informed that more than 90 percent of the idols are coloured by non-toxic vegetables dye. This will help in controlling the pollution of rivers when idols are immersion. The committee also added that the cleaning drive will be conducted before and after Puja at the Wahumkhrah River which is used for Durga Puja.
Meanwhile the Police Department is working hand in hand with the committee to check any untoward incident. The department has asked all committee representatives to install CCTVs at every Pandal to make it easier in keeping watch.
