The 4th round of Intensified Mission Indradhanush to commence from 8th January

The 4th round of Intensified Mission Indradhanush in the State will commence from 8th January 2018 onwards for seven working days in the State in selected districts namely East Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills, South West Khasi Hills, North Garo Hills, West Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills and only in the urban areas in West Khasi Hills.                                         

According to Shri P.W Ingty IAS Additional Chief Secretary, public awareness is the most important thing for the programme to succeed. He also add the main objectives of the Family Welfare Department is to survey all rural areas of the State and try to bridge the gap and make the Mission a successful one.

This programme is an initiative by The National Health Mission and State Health Department, Meghalaya in collaboration with the Central Government.

iTeams launched in Shillong

Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma today launched the 1917 Integrated Technology Enabled Agri Management System (1917 iTEAMS) at the New District Agriculture Office Complex, Shillong. iTEAMS is the  initiative of the government to enable and facilitate access to remunerative and sustainable markets for  farmers’ produce through the implementation and operation of a logistics and extension facilitation service which would help provide remunerative returns to farmers. Meghalaya is the first State in the country to start such initiatives for farmers.

 

While addressing the function in front of hundreds of farmers from across the State, the Chief Minister said that farmers are the most important section of our society, who is responsible for our food security; hence it is the duty of the government and people as a whole to empower the farmers. Dr. Mukul Sangma congratulates the Agriculture Department who came up with such initiatives to help farmer’s curbs fraud and manipulation by traders. He added that with this initiative farming should be the most sorts out occupation in the state.

Meghalaya’s only Abattoir set to open

 

B. Rijal, the Director of the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary department informed the press that an agreement with the Butchers Association of Meghalaya will be signed in order to functionalise the abattoir at Mawlai Mawroh. According to the agreement the Butchers Association would have to deposit a security of Rs 30 lakh with the state government for the time of ten years in which the government will benefit only 20 percent from its profit. Though the right of profit is purely dictated by the Association yet the property will still be of the government in order to maintain and supervise the slaughters of animals in a humane manner. In the next ten years, after the smoothly function of this newly open abattoir the government is set to set up two more one in Tura and Jowai.

President of EJH expressed gratitude to Chief Minister

People of Jaintia hills has expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma for his initiative in coming up with Community College across the State. Jaintia Eastern College from Khliehriat was recently included among the list of Colleges who falls under Community College. Mr. Phervision Nongtdu President of the East Jaintia Hills District Congress Committee in a statement said that the inclusion of this college under this scheme not only helps the students of this area but also helps the college to deliver better education to the poor rural students and to improve the Gross Enrolment Ratio in the state. He alsoextends his best wishes to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and his council of ministers in the journey for the all-round development of the state in the years to come.

29 athletes to participate in the Karate Championship in Gujarat

Twenty nine Karate athletes will participate in Kanninjuku National Shoto Cup Karate Championship and Training Camp 2017 in Sanjan, Gujurat from 29th December 2017 to 2nd January 2018.

The team will lead by Coach Mr. Mingson Rymbai and Manager Mr. Arjun Sewa. Those who has been selected to represent the State includes Dayalangki Challam, Loreenia Mawlong, Stephanie Sun, Edahunsha Challam, Daiahunlin Pde, Rosezana Kharkongor, Impera Makdoh, Wandahunshisha Mawblei, Izadaphishisha Khongwar, Elisheba Khongwar, Eva Gracia Kharumnuid, Naphisabet Nongkynrih, Gregor Wilson Makdoh.
