KSU to march towards D.C Office in SWKH

The Khasi Student Union (KSU) of the South West Khasi Hills District in order to show their mark of protest against the ignorance of the Deputy Commissioner of SWKH on 24th January will march to the Commissioner’s Office to demand from the Commissioner not to grant ‘No Objection Certificate’ certificate for setting up of camps by the Border Security Force (BSF).

 Mr. Forwardman Nongrem President of the KSU SWKH District while speaking to media person said that the Union had already given time to the Commissioner to terminate the request by the BSF to allow them in setting up military camps in the District but the Commissioner had not response to the demand of the union. The Union has also urged the public of the district to come out and support their demand for the benefit of the people in SWKH.

NCP to contest in 42 constituencies

The General Secretary of the Nationalist Congress Party NCP Mr. Praful Patel finally assert that the party will contest in 42 constituencies in the upcoming MLA Election in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Constituency out of which they will contest 22 constituencies from Garo Hills and 20 from Khasi Hills.The NCP Chief also announced the first list of the candidates of the party from the Khasi Hills region which includes Mr E.C.B Bamon former NCP MLA who come back to the party he will contest from Mookaiaw, Mr Tyngshain Lapang from Mawhati, Mr John D Sangma from Ranikor, Mr Ronalson Dkhar from Nongthymmai, Mr Predecessor Rumnong from Pynthorumkhrah, Mr. Andrew Charles Gare from Mawthyngkut.

The list of the party candidates for the Garo Hills will be announced at the public rally to be held in Tura. Others candidates wills be announced in due course of time. Mr Patel said that the people of Meghalaya is aware which party to vote, they will not vote for the party who try to dictate the food habit, the dress and the belief of the people.

While coming to the regional party he said the people have seen them what they have done, like the UDP, HSPDP, and KHNAM. The General Secretary of the party said that they will not work with the BJP after the election, with other parties they will have to decide. Before meeting the party workers he has laid the foundation stone of the party office in Bivar Road.

NCP will not support BJP

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) National General Secretary Praful Patel said that the party will never support the BJP urged the people of Meghalaya to reject the saffron party in the upcoming state polls.

“We are not going to the support the BJP that is for sure. We will do what is best and in the interest of the people of Meghalaya,” said Patel, who is on a two-day visit to the state,

Stating that the BJP and other political parties are trying to put their imprint on the state, he however claimed that they will not be in a position to win the hearts and the minds of the people of the state. The NCP chief added that he have seen what kind of fragmentation is taking place in the society and for sure the people of Meghalaya will out-rightly reject these kinds of infringement on their personal food habits, their beliefs, and religious ethos and I am sure a proper answer will be given by the state in this coming election he added.

 With regards to the National People’s Party (NPP), an NDA ally at the centre Patel refused to give any comment only said it is for the NPP to clarify whether they accept what the BJP says.

PM likely to re-visit Meghalaya

Mr. Alexander Hek who was appointed as the chairman of the State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) election Campaign Committee convener claimed that around four to five MLAs are likely to join the party soon he added that the party will try to convince the Prime Minister to campaign in three major districts of Meghalaya.

According to Hek a detailed programme would be arranged after the announcement of elections and after declaring the candidates. He also claimed that the next government would be formed after elections not by the Congress or other parties but by the BJP.

President of NPP misleading the People of the State- Kharshing

Recently the statement made by Conrad Sangma, National President of the National People’s Party (NPP) which he claimed that ‘NPP will not form an ally with BJP’ misleading the public said, Mr John Kharshiing General secretary of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee  (MPCC). Kharshing said that it is sad that such statement is made by a leader, who people of the state look up to, he added that it is known by all that four NPP MLAs are in Manipur’s Government which is in coalition with the BJP.

 John Kharshiing also said that it has been reported that the NPP and the United Democratic Party (UDP) are also constituents of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) one can see their association from pictures posted in the official website of the BJP.
