The global Summit was held on 3rd and 4th February 2018 in Guwahati, it was the largest ever investment promotion and facilitations initiative taken by the Government of Assam. The global Summit 2018 aimed to highlight the state’s geostrategic advantages offered to the investors by Assam. The two days summit showcased the manufacturing skills and the opportunities offered by the state in terms of exportoriented manufacturing and service growing economics with ASEAN and South Asian countries.

The Government of Assam has conducted a road show at various locations in both domestic and international locations to showcase the business potential and investments opportunities in the state. The summit promised to become a major platform for G2B, B2B meeting and displayed the investments opportunities of the state. Potential investors from diverse sectors attended ‘Advantage Assam’- The Global investor’s summit 2018, explores investment opportunities in Assam – India’s Expressway to ASEAN.

Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was invited for the inauguration of the global summit 2018 in Guwahati. On the global summit Prime Minister Modi said that “The North East is the heart of the Union Government‘s ‘Act East Policy’. The Act East policy visualizes the increasing people to contact, trades ties and other relation with the ASEAN countries. Advantage Assam is not only a name but it’s a holistic concept.”

The Prime Minister has given special importance to India’s growth story which would further energize through balanced and fair-paced growth of the North- Eastern regions. He also said that the ‘Ayushman Bharat’ scheme announced in the Union Budget is the largest scheme of its kind in the world.

The Prime Minister also mentioned the steps that should be taken to provide affordable housing to people and also spoke about the ‘UjalaYojona’ scheme for distributing LED (Light Emitting Diode) bulbs, which results in significant savings of electricity bills. He also spoke about providing collateral fee loans to entrepreneurs under ‘mudrayojona’ and told a few steps taken in the union budget to provide tax relief to MSMEs. He said that it is our collective responsibility to achieve the vision and dreams of our freedom fighters and create a New India by 2022.

The Prime Minister also defined about the work done to create new transportation infrastructure in the North-East. He also stated that “The Government has announced a unique health insurance scheme on the budget for the poor people”. He congratulated the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal for creating a business friendly and development friendly environment in Assam.
