RAJKHOWA SACKED NEDA GOVERNMENT IN ARUNACHAL PRADESH

Rajkhowa was appointed by the BJP government at the centre while the state was ruled by the arch rival Congress. He did not confine himself to the roles prescribed for a Governor but seemed to have gone out of the way to mouth his displeasures amongst which was the corruption in the state as soon as he joined his good office in May, 2015. When the sixth session of the sixth legislative assembly of the state was notified for holding in the month of January, 2016 he preponed the same session to mid December, 2015. The preponing of the assembly session and his setting of the agenda of the session had sparked the political unrest which also saw the imposition of President’s Rule in the state for a brief period starting on Republic Day this year. There were accusations that the Governor had acted at the behest of the central government to uninstall a non BJP government.

On the 8th of January, 2016 the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee had asked Governors to perform their duties within the framework of the Constitution of India, in comments that came against the backdrop of controversies involving some Governors like that of Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura. This was also a clear indication that Rajkhowa went off track in carrying out his duties.
