said that the progress of the Syndicate Bank has been synonymous with the phase of progressive banking in India. The Bank started one core banking solution in 2001 and till date over 1100 branches of Syndicate Banks are core banking. The bank is marching ahead with more than 2 crore clients.

The bank expanded its operations not only on the domestic front but also overseas. It has a branch in London and the bank manages National Exchange Co. in Doha and Musandam with over 2125 branches out of which 1523 are offering core banking-e-banking services under “anywhere-anytime-anyhow banking.”

Syndicate Bank is also a pioneer in rural development initiative right from 1926 when it provided financial assistance to handloom weavers. Starting from Kisan Credit Card, all other rural related schemes are available with the bank. Till date 7.18 lakh Kisan Credit Cards were distributed with credit limit of over Rs. 2189 crores. The bank is also giving priority to women empowerment and developing the concept of all women branch. It has so far provided over 54,909 self help groups with credit assistance amounting to Rs. 275 crores, benefiting 4.82 lakh women members.

The Chief Manager of Syndicate Banks, Mr. S. K. Goel said that the first branch in northeast was opened at Guwahati, Pan Bazar on 12th Dec, 1976. Since then it is making a steady growth and providing quality service to its customer. Syndicate Bank has 15 branches in Northeast, and few more are expected to come up in North East in 2008. The bank has received honour from time to time.
