The road project was announced for Rs. 5,500 crores – to construct 1840 Km long Trans Arunachal Pradesh Highway that will connect each of the district headquarters and facilitate easy movement of civilian and of course war machinery till the international border.

This apart, there is no denying the fact that Arunachal Pradesh which is one of the most beautiful part of our country has remained tremendously backward with practically no infrastructure development and very low connectivity.

Under such circumstances, the economic package announced by the Prime Minister is a step in the right direction. The economic package announced by the Prime Minister at present is around Rs. 1000 crore whereas, the minister of state in the Prime Minister’s office, Prithviraj Singh Chauhan informed the media in Itanagar that the total package for Arunachal Pradesh will be around 8,000 to 10,000 crore. He was right when he said that the state government needs to upgrade its spending capacity.

It is our common experience in the states of north eastern region that central funds meant for development are not fully utilized so much so that even the MP development funds are partially utilized by the MP in the states of the north eastern region.

It is in light of these facts that the Arunachal government must upgrade itself technically so that the money received by them is used in the right manner for development. The Prime Minister was right when he said ‘The sun kisses India first in Arunachal Pradesh’. It is our land of the rising sun. But, the development is reaching last in the state. It is too late and the process must begin without any further loss of time. We are optimistic.
