Konyak - new CLP leader

Senior Veteran Congress and MLA from 46th Mon Assembly Constituency (AC) Mr. Chingwang Konyak was unanimously elected as the new Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA).
The Congress has 23 members in the 60 member Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
Talking to newsmen, the newly elected 64 year old Mr. Chingwang Konyak said that his first priority would be strengthening the Party organization.
Asked whether there is any plan to topple the DAN government, the newly elected leader of opposition said, “As of now no” and revealed that we (Congress) are having 23 legislators.  He also thanked the Congress legislators for electing him as their leader and assured his best services for the party and the people of the state.
Earlier, the AICC observer Mr. Patil and union minister for chemical and fertilizers BK Handique also met each Congress MLA to listen to their views and opinions. 
Outgoing CLP leader I. Imkong said, “I resigned due to personal reasons and to have a more cohesive running of the legislators. I have been offering to step-down from day-one of the election” Mr. Imkong told waiting newsmen.
He also said that time and again, he had expressed difficulty in carrying on as leader of the CLP and the leader of opposition for another term. “One term as CLP leader has been a good experience. I gained and learned many things, he said adding “we should also pass the leadership to people”
He also assured full cooperation and decided to work under the leadership of Mr. Chingwang.
