Start CEMENT SET OFF RELIEF RUSH

STAR Cement the largest cement manufacturer in the North East visited the worst flood affected areas in Kamrup and Barpeta districts and distributed essential food stuff and clothing. Altogether 100 plus employees of STAR ventured out on Saturday, 6th September 2008 with truck loads of relief material required for day to day survival of people.  

STAR Cement covered submerged many areas. A total of  170 qtl of food materials was distributed to affected families. A total of 5000 thousand families in these two districts were donated relief materials worth Rs10 lakhs.

People from many villages  were donated with 1500 food packets to each families consisting of essential items and clothing for children, ladies and gents. 300 plus village families of Kasaruwa who have been marooned and could not receive any relief due to severe inundation of communication roads were reached and supplied with food materials. Another 800 plus families were provided with relief goods. 810 packets of relief items to 740 families in the remote villages of Madhabpur, Bechamari, Katla under Sarupeta Division were distributed. Further, 610 families of Santipur, Barhipar, Gumaphulbari and Tarapur were supplied with 820 numbers of relief materials. Besides, another 800 families of  Khudra Gomura (Santipur), Adarsh Sishu School (Relief Camp) Sartherbari Town, Paschim Lachima,  Kamarpara, Cheepa L.P.School (Gamother), Belbari (Santipur) and  Krishna Ashram were provided with the required food stuff. Many of these places under Sartherbari were badly affected and inundation had paralyzed the villages. Star Cement was the first party to provide relief to affected people of this area. The company officials also covered three villages- Bardanga, Kamarpara and Kaurjahi of Kalgachia circle of Barpeta district which is nearly 50 kms away from Barpeta Town where relief to 550 flood affected families was distributed.
