PDF at Nartiang “The summer capital of Jaintiapur”

The newly formed Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) has now set foot in Jaintia hills at NARTIANG KNOWN TO BE THE SUMMER CAPITAL OF Jaintiapur of the Syiem Sutnga Kings. The named Jaintia derived from princess Jayanti. Nartiang would however be an interesting battle ground. The PDF has fielded an old war horse Draison Kharshiong who had represented Nartiang in the past and now would lock horn with Sniawbhalang Dhar a former Cabinet Minister. Bah Draison Kharshing was a onetime legislative assembly representative during 2003-2008 also member of the Jaintia Hills Districts Council in 1989-1994-1999 to 2004 from Moobakhen- Khanduli Constituency. A candidate with a mission and vision...John F Kharshing

John F. Kharshing is no politician but had decided this time to jump into frat with belief that Congress would secure a sizeable comfortable position in the game of bumber in the government formation and other parties would tag along. However at this stage nothing can be taken for granted as formidable parties including the Bharatiya Janata Partty (BJP) the National Peoples Party (NPP), seem to be dominating the scene. John Kharshing would be seeking a contest from the Nongkrem constituency where already political die hard are there such as H.S.Shylla, Ardent Basaiwmot who have already rolled up their sleeves posing for a fight, come what may John Kharshing is however a member of the State Planning Board and also a champion for the cause of the traditional administration institution which are important governance factor at grass root level.

The Hills State People Democratic Party (HSPDP) one of the oldest regional party which lost its founder Bah Hopingstone Lymngdoh just recently is the first party to have come out with the an election agenda, outlining, main issues in safeguarding the interest of the indigenous people of the state to see that the state is protected under Article 371 of the constitution of India, for protection of custom, land holding, administration of justice. The HSPDP would want the implementation of the Inner Line Permit while at the same time opposing entry of passenger trains into the state. The HSPDP is having a pre-poll understanding with the United Democratic Party (UDP), yet would be contesting against each other in what so called “friendly match”. Yet the fact is even is these so called “friendly match” and there can never be a result of joint winners. The HSPDP Chief Ardent Basiawmoit also talked of a “common voice” between HSPDP and UDP possibly singing the same song.
