Threat against Anti party Activities

The Congress party has threatened to punish and take severe action against party members including cabinet ministers for anti party activities that can accuse the weakening of the party in the ensuing assembly polls. The state Congress has also brought to the notice of the high command of the activities of the rebels. Prominent among these are two cabinet ministers Rowell Lyndoh who was also former Deputy Chief Minister and also Prestone Tynsong. However it is a foregone conclusion that the Congress rebels would not heed to the party dictate. The situation therefore does not augur well for the Congress, especially at this crucial juncture when the party needs a boost up to face the election battle to capture as many seats as possible so as to retain power in the governance of the state. It has to be seen whether the Congress would only issue show cause notices to rebel legislators or to expel them outright from the party.

Lack of consistency in Political leaders

The election scene is yet to settle but has at the same time kicked up a lot of confusion dust as many of the contestants have jumped fences from one political party to another. Some of them are attracted by greener pasture, some out of depression of not getting a ticket, that have exposed the fickle mind of the would be legislator. H.S.Shylla for instance trying his luck in Nongkrem constituency had suddenly switched from the Peoples democratic Front to the National People’s Party that has perplexed the voters. Likewise Sounder S. Cajee who had enrolled himself in the BJP field has suddenly deserted the party stating that about two hundreds of his working force had asked him to do so. At the same time he is determined to contest from south Shillong Mawlai Constituency. At present he is a ticketless contender. Many of such aspirants are still in the weeds while the clock is ticking fast to the word go. This is sure a sign of desperation of crossing the fence from one to another by intending candidates having no sense of consistency.
